A little more about
Rhythm Randomizer.

Built for music learners, teachers, and anyone who wants a steadier sense of rhythm.

An independent practice tool

Rhythm Randomizer is a free tool for generating music rhythm exercises. Choose a time signature and difficulty, listen at your own pace, practice a hidden rhythm by ear, or print a worksheet.

This is an independent project. It is not affiliated with The Rhythm Randomizer at rhythmrandomizer.com.

Your practice and browser storage

The main practice page remembers the generator settings you choose in this browser. Lesson guides start with their recommended setup. Playback and display preferences, along with your analytics choice, are stored on this device.

Rhythm audio is synthesized on your device. We do not request microphone access, create accounts, or record your playing. Your volume preference stays on your device and is not included in shared links.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics 4 loads only after you allow optional analytics. It helps us understand page visits and basic browser and device information and may set first-party analytics cookies. Google receives connection information when its analytics service is used.

Advertising personalization is disabled. We remove query strings and URL fragments from page addresses and referrers before sending page-view data, so shared exercise settings and random seeds are excluded from those URLs.

Declining keeps Google Analytics from loading. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using Analytics preferences in the footer. Google describes its handling of information in its privacy policy.

Sharing and hosting

Share links include the exercise’s random seed, musical settings, and chosen display options. Anyone with the link can open the same exercise. Links contain no recording or personal profile.

Choosing X or Reddit opens that platform with your exercise link and a draft to review; its own privacy policy applies. More sharing options uses your device’s share menu when supported.

Cloudflare serves the site and may process ordinary request information, such as IP addresses, for hosting and security.

Using a keyboard or screen reader

All controls can be reached with Tab. Press Space to play or stop and N for a new rhythm when you are not typing in a control. Turn on the counting guide for a text description of the notes and rests. In Listen & reveal mode, notation and its text description stay hidden until you reveal the answer.

Notation and typefaces

Music notation is rendered with VexFlow. The notation fonts are Bravura and Academico; the interface uses DM Sans and Fraunces. All fonts are served with the site. Third-party notices are available in our license notices.

Practice thoughtfully

A generator gives you variety; it cannot assess your playing. Start slowly, keep a steady pulse, and check unfamiliar rhythms with a teacher. Rhythm Randomizer supports note values, rests, dotted figures, triplets, and grouped meters.
